Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Jyväskylä is a local ESN section.

ESN Jyväskylä organizes multicultural activities, events, and trips for all students interested in internationalization, both Finnish and international. Our events consist of several parties, sports, trips, and projects, about which you can read more on this website. In principle, ESN Jyväskylä operates in English.

You can find our office at University building MaD, room MaD238 on the second floor. We have office hours almost every week so you can come and buy ESNcard or tickets to our events!

Internationally, the Erasmus Student Network is the biggest student association in Europe, and was founded in 1989 for supporting and developing student exchange. We are present in more than 800 Institutions of Higher Education in 40 different countries. The network is constantly developing and expanding.

The Board 2019

President: Matias Ovaska

Hey there and welcome to Jyväskylä! I'm Matias, the President of ESN Jyväskylä this upcoming semester. I'm studying Health Sciences in the Faculty of Sports. I'll start my 5th year in the uni. so kinda finishing my last courses and master thesis.

I'm a big fan of sports so I'm sure we will meet each other in ESN sports turns too. Also Rentukka's or Uni.'s gym is a place where I'll like to go (when I get tired of studying so pretty often).

Besides sports, I'm always down for a good party. Especially sitsit is one of my favourite partys and big part of a finnish student culture! I highly recommend you to join these unique nights!

I had my own amazing Erasmus in Maastricht, NL and after that, I got inspired to join my local section too. We here at ESN Jyväskylä, will do our best so you would have an urfogettable exchange and create some lifelasting memories! See you in our events :)

Vice President:

Local Representative: David Mesén

Secretary: Aapo Vuori

My name is Aapo, I’m a 23-year musicology major here at JYU. 2019 is my first year in the ESN board. I spent my own Erasmus last summer in Hamburg, and therefore I want to help exchange students here to also have the best time of their lives!
You can ask me anything concerning Jyväskylä since I was born and raised here.
During my freetime I consume lots of music, culture, ice hockey and sometimes craft beer.
Treasurer: Lauri Luoma

Hello everyone! I am a fourth-year student in ethnology and anthropology here in Jyväskylä. My interest in ESN began during my first year of university when I attended a couple of their events. I decided that I want to be a part of that organization but then I went to do my exchange in England and the year after I spent recovering.

But now I am here to take care of the financial matters of ESN Jyväskylä as the treasurer! I handle stuff like accounting, budgeting, paying bills and interacting with our bank. During my free time I enjoy spending time with my friends, playing video games and thinking about how badly I need to do my assignments without actually doing them.

So if you have any money related questions do not hesitate to contact me or if you just want to say hi feel free to do so as well.

Travel Coordinator: Iiris Ranta

Hi everyone!

Iiris here, your travel coordinator for the year 2019. I am a first-year master student studying Intercultural Management and Communication. I decided to join ESN JKL after gaining unforgettable experiences from international tutoring and from my own Erasmus exchange in Poland. Working in an international environment is fulfilling, rewarding and most importantly, fun!

During my free time, you might still find me from University - most likely reading in library, having a coffee in Belvedere or searching an empty room for playing piano.

If you have anything to ask about the upcoming trips, feel free to contact me. Moreover, I'll hope to meet you all in our events!

Events Coordinator: Alizee Rat

Hi all!! I'm Alizée, and I'm one of the Events Coordinators for ESN JKL 2019's board. I'm very excited about this upcoming year and all the fun we're going to have alltogether!
I'm a French exchange student for the Academic year, and I study Politics, Business, History and Languages. During my free time I love to travel, go out with my friends, and I'm also very passionnate about cooking. I also like to convince myself that I'm sporty, even though I'm terrified to put one foot inside the University's gym.
Being Event Coordinator for this year is an amazing opportunity to create fun events in order to make my Erasmus experience absolutely memorable (and yours as well!)

Events Coordinator:

Sam Herbert
IT Manager: Hentter Eloranta

Hi! I'm Hentter and the IT Manager but that is not all. You will see me in most of the events and maybe also on the trips.

I'm studying computer science in the University of Jyväskylä and I like binge watching Netflix, cooking and listening to music. Mostly metal and rock, like every other Finn. I was Erasmus student myself two years ago when I spent lovely six months in Slovenia and when I came back to Finland I felt a huge need to join ESN Jyväskylä.

Hopefully you will feel that same need and join your local ESN section and continue to have fun and never stop being ESNer!

PR & Communications Manager: Nelli-Sofia Peuranen

Hi there!

I’m Nelli-Sofia (or just Nelli) a third-year Musicology student in University of Jyväskylä. I am the PR & Communications Manager in ESN Jyväskylä board in this year, which means that posting on Instagram and Facebook, and taking care of our partners make quite a big part of my area. Photographing is one of my passions, so you can probably find me behind the camera from time to time.

I’m also the President of the Board in Trioli ry, the Student Association of Musicology. Yeah, big boots. But I love to have my hands on things, so being the board member - both in Trioli and ESN - seems to be my place to be.

Getting excited drastically easily, and ending up having long and profound conversations about all the new ideas how to do and make things better could be two things describing me well. As said before, I love to do things, to get things done, and most importantly, to see people enjoying the outcome. If there’s anything I could help you with, just let me know and we’ll figure it out together!

I’m eager to get to know you guys, so don’t hesitate to come and have a little chat! See you in the events! :)
